London: The London Region Committee of ‘Bangabandhu Writer & Journalist Forum’ hosted a tea adda with former journalist of Voice of America Shameem Chawdhury on 20 September at Café Grill restaurant, Brick Lane, Banglatown. The event was chaired by organisations’s Convenor Batirul Haque Shordar and conducted by Secretary Shah Mustafijur Rahman Belal.

She reminisced her days in the UK. Shameem Chawdhury, a trained teacher, came to the UK in the 1970s worked for BBC World Service from 1983 to 2001. She was also a cultural activist and was involved with Bengali Literary Society. She then went to the US in 2002 to work for Voice of America as an international radio broadcaster. And now she lives mostly in Bangladesh. She shared  her stories and experiences with fellow journalists of the Forum.

On the request of the Forum to run training, workshops and symposium for UK Bengali journalists & broadcasters she said she would happy to that on her visit to the UK in December. The event ended with a Crest being presenter to her by Rumi Haque and other members of the Forum.
