NRW Office of German Awami League Inaugurated

nrw off 3Shottobani Desk:   Through the auspicious function the office of German Awami League in North Rheine Westphalia State was inaugurated in Bonn on Wednesday. The Deputy Minister of Environment and Forest Ministry Abdullah Al Islam Jakob graced the occasion as chief guest.

The President of German Awami League A K M Bashirul Alam Chowdhury Shabu attended the inauguration ceremony as special guest, while NRW Chapter President of German Awami League and renowned entrepreneur Juboraj Talukder was in the chair.

At the outset the guests and participants sang the national anthem led by Abdul Munim and Mir Zabeda Yeasmin Imi. Then one minute silence was observed to show respect and for the peace of the departed souls of the brave freedom fighters and martyrs of the language movement, liberation war and the family members of the assassinated leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Among others, the Senior Vice President of NRW Awami League Nurul Islam, General Secretary Najmul Hasan, Administrative Officer of Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin Md Ali Mohsin Reza and Convener of NRW Juboleague Didarul Islam addressed the occasion. Organizing Secretary of German Awami League (GAL) Abbas Ali Chowdhury and Vice President of NRW Awami League Sagir Khan attended, among others. Poet and Artist Mir Zabeda Yeasmin Imi recited the poem ‘Amar Porichoi’ and Journalist and Development Activist Hossain Abdul Hai moderated the sessions.

Deputy Minister Jakob, accompanied by other guests, later on visited the House of Integration and the adjacent Mosque in Duisdorf founded by NRW AL President Talukder.

Meanwhile, a reception to the Deputy Minister Jakob and discussion meeting on the historic speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 7 March in 1971 was held in a restaurant in Frankfurt. GAL President A K M Bashirul Alam Chowdhury Shabu presided over the function, while GAL Chief Advisor Aminur Rahman Khasru, Ashutosh Bonik, Younus Ali Khan, Organizing Secretary Abbas Ali Chowdhury, Cultural Secretary Abdul Khaleque, Nure Hasnat Shipon, Jahangir Hossen, NRW AL President Juboraj Talukde and Convener of German Juboleague Amanullah Islam addressed the meeting.

In his speech, the Chief Guest congratulated the leaders and activists of German Awami League for opening the first office in Germany by NRW officials in Bonn. Mentioning the historical significance of the speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 7th March 1971, he said, because of the skilled leadership and charismatic strategy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the highest sacrifice of the brave freedom fighters, we succeeded to emerge as an independent nation, and presently under the leadership of his qualified and intelligent daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Bangladesh has raised her head as a role model of development in the international arena. Deputy Minister Jakob stressed on the active and united effort of all Mujib soldiers at home and abroad to fasten the mission of making a developed Bangladesh in the days to come.

The German Awami League leaders expressed their commitment to set up new party offices in other regions in Germany following the instance of NRW Awami League in the near future.

In the cultural soiree, popular singer from Cologne Abdul Munim sang a number of patriotic songs. Poet Mir Zabeda Yeasmin Imi and Hossain Abdul Hai recited poems on the liberation movement of Bangladesh.
