London: A protest meeting was held on Sunday 28 May Altab Ali Park, Aldgate East to condemn the police attack & arrest of students & cultural activists who were peacefully protesting against the removal of sculpture from the front of Supreme Court building in Dhaka.

The statue of the goddess of justice, stood in front of Bangladesh’s Supreme Court, holding a pair of scales in one hand, while another clutched a sword. But, within six months of the sari-wearing statue was erected it was taken down by pressure from Islamists claiming the statue’s presence amounts to idolatry.

The protest was called by Udichi Shilpi Ghosti UK Shangshad chaired by Harun ar Rashid and conducted by Shahab Ahmed Bachchu.
