London: The Bengali Hindu community in the United Kingdom has strongly condemned the Bangladesh government’s continued denial of human rights violations against religious minorities, including Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. The group also criticised the targeting of Tulsi Gabbard, the United States Director of National Intelligence, for her statements highlighting the persecution of minority communities in Bangladesh.

In a press statement, UK-based Bengali Hindu organisations accused the Bangladesh regime of ignoring the long-standing discrimination, violence, and persecution faced by religious minorities. “Rather than addressing these serious concerns, the government has chosen to attack those who speak out, including Tulsi Gabbard, whose remarks reflect the harsh realities on the ground,” the statement read.

The community pointed to ongoing reports of forced conversions, land grabs, and violent attacks against minorities, criticising the Bangladesh government’s failure to protect vulnerable groups. “The attempts to suppress criticism and whitewash these atrocities are deeply troubling,” they added.

Expressing solidarity with Gabbard and other advocates for minority rights, the signatories urged the international community to take action. “We call on global leaders, human rights organisations, and concerned individuals to hold Bangladesh accountable for its treatment of minorities and ensure their voices are heard.”

The statement concluded with a firm commitment to raising awareness of the plight of religious minorities in Bangladesh and pushing for justice on the international stage. Pushpita Gupta signed the statement on behalf of the Bengali Hindu Community in the UK and other UK-based Bengali Organisations.
