Londonঃ Thousands of demonstrators assembled outside Whitehall in London on Thursday to protest Israel’s military actions in Gaza, coinciding with the announcement of a potential ceasefire agreement.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign organised the demonstration, which proceeded despite what organisers described as “unprecedented” restrictions imposed by the Metropolitan Police, including an attempted ban on marching to the BBC headquarters and efforts to relocate the assembly point to Russell Square.

Members of various community groups, including ‘Bengalis for Palestine’ representatives Nooruddin Ahmed, Ansar Amed Ullah, and Jamal Khan, joined the protest. Demonstrators laid flowers, toys, and children’s shoes in a memorial gesture for Palestinian casualties in Gaza.

The protest came as reports emerged of continued violence, with over 80 Palestinian casualties reported on Wednesday alone, including 30 deaths following the ceasefire announcement. Protesters emphasised the urgency of implementing the ceasefire agreement, which aims to halt the ongoing casualties in the region.
