Sreeramsi Genocide Day is observed

London: A Milad and Dua Mahfil were held at the Brick Lane Jame Masjid in East London in memory of the victims of the massacre at Sreeramsi in Sylhet on 31 August 1971.
On 31 August 1971, the Pakistani invasion force and their accomplices carried out mass murder on the local people in Sreeramsi High School grounds of Sunamganj Jagannathpur Upazila and along the road of Wajid Ali, Haji Omar Ali’s Pond. On that day, more than two hundred local freedom loving people were killed by the Pakistani invaders and their allies. On the occasion of 31st August Sreeramsi Genocide Day, various programmes are observed in Bangladesh and the UK every year in memory of the martyrs.
To mark the day, Sreeramshi Welfare Association UK organised a Milad and Dua Mahfil on Saturday, 31st August, after Zohar at Brick Lane Jame Masjid in East London.
Hafez Maulana Motiul Haque Bachchu led the prayers under the management of Welfare President Islam Uddin and General Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Khokon. Amir Hussain, Omar Ali, Alhaj Abdul Malik Manik, Abar Ali, Ansarul Haque, Ali Ashraf, Abdul Kahar, Azizul Haque Monteswar, Haji Jamshed Ali, Tanveer Piyas and others were present.
