London: On Monday afternoon, 13 may Queen Mary students established an encampment in solidarity with Palestine outside the Queens Building. They have named their encampment the QMUL Liberated Zone.
The students are protesting the ongoing genocide in Gaza and calling on Queen Mary to take action to break its institutional ties and complicity with the Israeli assault.
The QMUL students demands are that Queen Mary divest from Booking.com, Barclays, Siemens, including financial accounts, and pledge not to invest or enter into contract with any company in the future that would be complicit in the oppression of Palestinians, implement a full academic boycott to cut ties with Israeli universities, establish a scholarship scheme specifically for Palestinian students, particularly those in Gaza, the West Bank or refugee camps in neighbouring countries and release an official statement condemning the genocide in Gaza, and stand with wronged individuals including QMUL Professor Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian alongside pledging to support alumni trapped within Gaza.
