London: The leadership of the Conservative Friends of Bangladesh (CFoB) has held talks with Conservative Party chairman Kevin Hollinrake MP at CCHQ, focusing on the party’s priorities and its rebuilding efforts following the 2024 General Election.

During the meeting, Mr Hollinrake, who served as CFoB’s founding treasurer when the group was created in 2006, outlined his role and the party’s current policy direction. He noted what he described as encouraging signs of renewed momentum, following a series of recent by-election successes.

CFoB representatives updated the chairman on the organisation’s recent activities, including campaign work carried out by members across the UK. Mr Hollinrake praised the group for its longstanding contribution to the Conservative Party, acknowledging its involvement in general, local and mayoral elections over nearly two decades, as well as its participation in policy discussions. He also paid tribute to the British Bangladeshi community, highlighting its “significant contribution” to the UK economy and wider society.

The CFoB delegation, president Muquim Ahmed, chairman Anjenarra Rahman-Huque, co-chair Mehfuz Ahmed and co-deputy chairman Sujit Sen held further discussions with the party chairman on the political situation in Bangladesh. They expressed hopes that the country’s next national election, expected in February 2026, will be conducted in a free, fair and inclusive manner.

CFoB said it remains committed to strengthening ties between the British Bangladeshi community and the Conservative Party, promoting constructive dialogue and continuing its work on policy development.
