London: The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced the return of the capital’s annual Eid on the Square celebrations, marking the event’s 20th anniversary in Trafalgar Square. The free, family-friendly festival will take place on Saturday, 30 May, celebrating Eid al-Adha with a vibrant programme of music, art, culture, literature, history, fashion and food in the heart of central London.

Hosted by radio presenter Nadia Ali and TikTok personality Juwayria Ghazali, the event will feature performances from the London Arab Orchestra, the London Turkish Association Dance Group and performer Khaled Siddiq.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a wide range of activities across the Square, including an immersive art installation by Everyday Muslim, fencing workshops led by Muslim Girls Fence, and arts and crafts sessions in the Alif New Beginnings Family Zone.

The celebrations will also include food stalls offering cuisines from around the world, market stalls selling jewellery, books and gifts, and opportunities for children to meet popular characters Omar and Hana. Mayor Sadiq Khan said, “I’m delighted that Eid on the Square returns to Trafalgar Square with a packed programme of art, music and cultural performances.

“For 20 years this wonderful event has brought Londoners and visitors of all backgrounds together to celebrate the huge contribution Muslim Londoners make to our city.

“It’s another great example of how our capital’s diversity is our greatest strength, as we build a better London for everyone. Eid Mubarak!
