Londonঃ Thousands packed the streets of central London on Saturday in a powerful show of solidarity with the Palestinian people, joining a national march that campaigners described as one of the most determined demonstrations of the year.
Gathering at Hyde Park Corner before moving through Piccadilly and towards Whitehall, protesters carried banners calling for an immediate end to Israel’s occupation and for the UK to halt all arms sales that may contribute to the ongoing suffering in Gaza and the West Bank. Chants of “Free, free Palestine!” echoed through the city as families, students, trade unionists and community groups, including Bengalis for Palestine, marched side by side.
The event was coordinated by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition and other justice-focused organisations. Speakers at the final rally urged the UK government to take meaningful action, stressing that statements of concern must now be matched with concrete policy change.
Many participants said they attended because they felt a moral responsibility to stand up for human rights. “Silence is not an option while people are losing their homes, their land and their lives,” one marcher said. “We’re here to demand justice and to show Palestinians they are not alone.”
The London event was part of a wider wave of international marches marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, with large crowds also reported in Paris, Rome and other major cities. Activists said the turnout demonstrates growing public insistence on a fair and lasting peace rooted in equality and accountability.
