London: The Made in Exile exhibition and workshops are opening their doors at Rich Mix, Bethnal Green, east London, from 20 June to 25 June, 2025. This week-long collaborative art event aims to explore themes of exile, resistance, and identity through engaging activities and community-driven projects.
Participants will have the opportunity to partake in drop-in workshops inspired by traditional crafts such as clay making and woodblock printing. These activities culminate in the creation of a large collective tapestry that reflects personal stories of exile and resilience, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
The event emphasises storytelling beyond spoken language, offering a space that feels like home for those who identify with exile. Alongside craft sessions, the program includes discussions, a writer’s circle, and other participatory activities. Proceeds from the event will support organisations dedicated to aiding exiles.
Made in Exile is part of the broader Forming New Folklores initiative and is supported by Unlimited, aiming to amplify marginalised voices through art and community engagement.
