New Committee of SPD Hardtberg: Dr Abdul Hai elected president

London: Bonn, March 20: Former DW journalist and social democratic politician Dr Abdul Hai was elected President, while former Chairman of the Bonn Integration Council Binnaz Öztoprak was elected Vice President of the SPD Hardtberg.
In the general meeting on 19 March, SPD delegates elected a 6-member new executive committee for one year. Treasurer Christoph Unger has been re-elected in the same position. Other office bearers are Teym Al-Zubaidi, Sarah Riedel, and Helmut Theiler.
Dr Abdul Hai is also an Expert Member in the Science, Europe and International Committee of the Bonn City Council. Former US National Press Foundation (NPF) fellow and Editor of print magazine Schimanto (Die Grenze), Dr Abdul Hai, expressed gratitude to the party members for electing him for this important position. Notably, Dr Abdul Hai has been living in Bonn and engaged in several socio-cultural and civic activities since 2009 and has been working with SPD since 2020. He has worked in DW, Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh News Agency (BSS), the Daily Star and the New Nation for about a decade. With two other colleagues, he won the Hostwriter Media Award from Berlin in 2016.
Dr Hai has worked with One World Network NRW for five years since 2017. He was honoured with the Panos Fellowship and Panos South Asia Award in 2007 for his series of in-depth reports on poverty alleviation and poverty reduction strategies. In the development field, he has worked with Life Learning Development e.V., Afridat Innovation UG, BASUG Diaspora and Development, BNNRC, CCD and PANOS South Asia with significant responsibilities.
